Music maestro A. R. Rahman has just won the Golden Globe for the Best original musical score of Danny Boyle's 'Slumdog Millionaire'. Now the musical genius from Chennai has done it again, winning 3 nominations for the Oscars as well.The Golden Globe winning film by Boyle has swept the Oscar nominations by being nominated in ten categories. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on February 22. The news that would make every Indian proud is the fact that Rahman has been nominated in three categories, one for best original score and two in the best original song section. The two song which have been nominated are 'Jai Ho' written by Gulzar and 'O Saaya' co-written by Maya Arulpragasam. The film has also been nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Sound Mixing and Best Sound Editing. The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button led the race with 13 nominations. If Rahman does go on to win the Oscar, it will truly be an Indian evening at the Academy Awards this year as the film itself is the rags-to-riches story of an Indian boy from the Mumbai slums.

The British Academy for Film and Television Arts announced the nominations for the British Academy Film Awards, considered to be the British equivalent of the Oscars, on the 15th of January. A.R.Rahman's score for Slumdog Millionaire has received a nomination in the Best Composer category.
